Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji

His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, the 23rd pontiff of the Srimath, was born on 29 August 1916 and ascended the holy seat on 24 February 1928 at the age of twelve.

A visionary spiritual leader, scholar, and dedicated social reformer, His Holiness devoted more than five decades to the welfare and upliftment of society. He was a scholar of Kannada and Sanskrit and a great patron of education, art, and literature.

Recognising that lack of education was a major cause of poverty and social inequality, he founded the JSS Mahavidyapeetha in 1954. Under his leadership, JSS expanded its service through schools, colleges, professional institutions, hostels, and hospitals.

His Holiness remained committed to serving the poor and underprivileged without distinction. His remarkable contributions were recognised with the title ‘Rajagurutilaka’ in 1970, and he was posthumously awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Mysore in 1989.

His Holiness attained heavenly abode on 6 December 1986. His enduring vision and service continue to inspire the institutions and social initiatives of JSS Mahavidyapeetha.

Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji

His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, the 24th Peethadhipathi of Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthana Math, Sri Suttur Kshetra, and President of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, assumed responsibilities in 1986.

Under his visionary and inclusive leadership, JSS Mahavidyapeetha has grown into a global educational and social service organisation.

His Holiness serves as Chancellor of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru, and JSS Science and Technology University, Mysuru.

His leadership has expanded JSS's presence across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and internationally in Mauritius, Dubai, and the United States of America.
